Why Delegation Feels Hard—and How to Start

Business owner hesitates to hand a task to a colleague, with reminders to choose one recurring task, provide clear steps, and arrange a check-in.

"Just delegate it."

Sounds easy when you're not the person who has to figure out the handoff.

You still have to decide:

What can I hand over?

Who can handle it?

What do they need from me?

When will I train them?

How will I know it's done properly?

By the time you think through all that, doing it yourself can feel easier.

So you do.

Then next week, you're doing it again.

A lot of us entrepreneurs struggle with delegation, myself included. It takes time, mental energy, and a system. Those things can be hard to find when you're already overloaded.

I'd start with one task that comes back every week.

Choose someone who can learn it. Show them what a good result looks like. Write down the main steps and schedule a check-in.

The first handoff takes work. Give it time before deciding it didn't work.

That daily sorting and assigning is part of why we built our app, Top10Q. It helps automate task ranking, scheduling, and assignment so there's less of that admin to handle.

What's one task you keep doing because explaining it feels harder than doing it yourself?
